We are deeply saddened by the passing of Larry Ward, PhD—a beloved poet, author, cofounder of the Lotus Institute, and senior dharma teacher in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh. Larry touched the BCBS community with his presence and teachings, offering the Dharma with clarity, compassion, and a presence that was at once wise, courageous, and deeply human. Alongside his wife and teaching partner, Peggy Rowe Ward, he inspired countless people across generations, cultures, and faiths—truly “a lighthouse of love, laughter, and wisdom.” We hold Peggy, Larry’s family, his students, and all who loved him in our hearts during this tender time.
